Happy Halloween

Hope you had a great Halloween this year - we sure did - carved pumpkins, roasted pumpkin seeds (paprika and lime flavour they were so delicious) and got to dressed up.

So funny being dressed up as Juno - we were at Macs getting Sunny D for my costume and a teenage girl beside me in line turns to me while looking at my belly
"Oh my God - congratulations"
I replied with a knock on my belly
"Its actually a helmet but thanks anyways"
Her
"Oh you're Juno - I get it - great costume"

Second funniest thing was watching people at the party try to figure out why no one was freaking out that the pregnant girl was drinking wine....

So fun! And lots of cute kidlets trick or treating (much to Kona's demise).

Family Portraits

A month ago a friend of mine asked if he could practice his photography skills on our family.

We of course agreed (having no professional pictures of the 3 of us - sorry kitty you wouldn't have enjoyed the park anyhow). We cooked him supper in return.

Turns out Kona hates having his picture taken - it took tons of distracting and high pitched voices to even get his ears up in the photos featured here - and tell me you can't see the look of boredom and annoyance on the dog's face!
He is so funny...

I will definitely get these printed. I especially like the one of Mr S and Kona...

Gone but not forgotten

This summer I was commissioned to make a replica pair of legwarmers - a friend had borrowed a pair from someone who got a funky pair in Peru and with some Punta yarn I got down to business.

Note the heel strap - what a great idea!

I did not do much knitting this summer - so was a bit sad when my only FO was bound for a new home - but I have since cast on for a pair of legwarmers for myself...in purple.

I hope these are loved by their new owner.

Closet of Fun

This is the closet in my studio - I love to look at it and contemplate which hobby to delve into next.

Bottom baskets - yarn for knitting, crocheting or maybe someday weaving

First Shelf- fabric and sewing/quilting utensils

Second shelf - knitting and spinning utensils

Top shelf - fleece for spinning and odds and ends of yarn for small projects

Way too many possibilities and way too little time

P.S. this closet is a tad distracting when I am working from home - I swear it calls to me!

One little teacup

I got this cup at a thrift store a little while ago. It is cute and kitschy - but the reason I just had to add it to my collection of eclectic tea cups is because it matches the cookie jar my grandma had when I was a little kid.

There are Polaroid pictures of me on my grandma's counter with the cookie jar between my legs, with her allowing me to dig in.

She was amazing at baking and everything was extra sweet!

Just visiting

A friend has lent me this beautiful table loom while she moves.

Do I have any clue when it comes to how to even start using this thing? Not in the slightest.

I'll be hitting up u-tube and the library as soon as time allows and hopefully can at least try it out before she needs to go back to her rightful owner.

If you have any suggestions on good websites/ books or videos online to get started please let me know!

I'll let you all know if I produce anything worth showing (or laughing at).

A little Cheer

A little cheer from Mr S. last week.
My favourite flower - the gerbera!
